Small update from a 1933 issue of The Arlington Journal: ”The life imprisonment of Sam Louder … was affirmed by the Court of Criminal Appeals in Austin Wednesday. Louder previously had been sentenced to death but this was reversed on the grounds that the court had failed to instruct the jury that the officer had no search warrant when he went to the negro‘s house. Johnson was slain when he went to the house to investigate a peace disturbance charge. The State declared the officer had announced himself. The defense contended that Louder thought the officer was a burglar.”
