When I recently came across this photo/postcard of a “Co-Motional Motion Development Plant” in Seattle, I was all “wtf is a Co-Motional Motion Development Plant?!”
In the early 1930s Peter Ivanoff started up his plant to research/build a “great invention that would revolutionize the condition of the universe or mankind”. Some fandangled perpetual motion invention. His sketchy solicitation of funds for the project got him in trouble with the local government and it seems he never actually completed his co-motional motion machine.
You can see a few more Now/Then photos and read a little more on Peter Ivanoff on Paul Dorpat’s site.

Unrelated to this gun accident, the first performance by a Beatle in the U.S. was in Eldorado, Illinois (current population of about 4,100 people). (source: wikipedia)

Try as we might, we cannot find the conclusion to this story. Alvin, will always be, as far as the wire feed the Times were using will remain unknown as they cut the remainder out probably due to deadline and page space.
